This whirlwind of a romance was not on anyone’s agenda, but the strong connection Steve and Andrea felt swept them right off their feet, and there was simply no turning back!
Their proposal will forever be recorded in my book of Real Life Fairytales.
Steve and Andrea were talking about a get away — someplace warm from their frigid Seattle home! They had booked a trip to Hawaii only to see that the forecast looked a lot like 5 days of non-stop rain. Steve had been to Miami a few times, but since Andrea had not and had always wanted to go, they quickly changed flight tickets (and directions) and headed out Miami Beach — South Beach to be exact!
The morning of February 2, 2014, while most people were getting ready for the Super Bowl between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos, Steve was plotting a victory of his own! He told Andrea he had a plan, and she was instructed to follow him with a bathing suit, towel and a bottle of her favorite champagne. She didn’t think about it too much, and with excitement, she did as he asked! They headed out the door and jumped into a taxi, and five minutes later, it became apparent that they were heading to a marina! (How exciting?!)
They walked up to the docks, and there awaited a 50’ Sea Ray motor-yacht with a captain and a stewardess at the ready. Steve had arranged for a complete buffet lunch, catered from Joe’s Stone Crab with key lime pie for dessert!
It was a beautiful, sunny Miami day. With bathing suits on and good tunes playing, they pulled away from the marina and started cruising the Inter-coastal waterway, where they could see downtown Miami and the luxury homes of the Venetian Islands. It was there that Steve said he couldn’t wait any longer!! Just at that moment, he dropped to one knee, and asked Andrea to be his wife. She said YES, of course, and now we are going to be surrounded by their closest friends and families at the Vanderbilt Mansion on Fisher Island! With Lauren Daversa Events, LLC, I am sure this wedding will go down in history!
What a pleasure it was to write them an original ceremony script and set of vows to capture their adventurous love! He’s a bit of a Star Trek fan, so it was so much fun to weave in a few Kirk and Spock-sims! Oh the laughs and tears we will shed, embraced by their love. 🙂
